Map of Kumeu

One of the big annual highlights of the Kumeu region is its agricultural show. It draws crowds of thousands who flock to see farm animals of every description, buy natural produce from a variety of local traders and enjoy all the fun of the fair.

The show attracts exhibitors from across the country and features axe men contests where people go head to head to chop through tree trunks. But there is more to Kumeu than this annual extravaganza.

The region has its own hot rod show every January and the area even has its own brass band – Kumeu Brass.

But the area, like Matakana, is well known as a popular wine region – a place that offers fine wines, great dining for any budget and beautiful scenery. No trip to Rodney should exclude a visit to this area.

There’s great golfing and seasonal activities such as fruit picking can be great fun – strawberries in Kumeu are mouth-wateringly juicy!

When it comes to somewhere to stay there are plenty of choices from B&Bs for the keen traveller to more refined affairs for those looking for cool sophistication.

Kumeu coast and country is just splendid at any time of year and with Rodney being less that half an hour away from Auckland you can indulge your family, your partner or just yourself  – leaving your worries on the Harbour Bridge.

And for those looking for a perfect spot to get married, Kumeu can really deliver the perfect backdrop - complimented by fine reception venues to impress your guests.

With its wide-open spaces, hundreds of hidden sidetracks to explore you’ll be spoilt for choice. So plan your stay carefully and make the most of Kumeu every time you visit.
